Will a dash cam drain my battery?+
Not with a proper hardwire kit. We install a battery monitor that cuts power before the battery drops below safe voltage. Plug-in dash cams without monitoring can drain a battery — hardwired ones with monitoring won't.
Can I view the dash cam footage from my phone?+
Yes. Modern BlackVue and Thinkware cams stream live video and recorded clips to your smartphone over WiFi and (optional) 4G LTE. You can pull footage without ever touching the vehicle.
Is a dash cam legal in California?+
Yes. California specifically permits dash cams mounted on the lower-left corner of the windshield (driver-side) or behind the rearview mirror. We install in legal locations every time.
